a few people wrote to the papers to express their thoughts on how dangerous south bouna vista road is........

i think it's an over reaction.......

it's just a short stretch of winding road; nothing more nothing less....... if one has driven to genting highlands, bukit fraser and cameron highlands, he probably would not make a fuss out of south bouna vista road.......

those that chose to cycle along the road and walk across at blind corners are obviously asking for trouble.......

the road, nicknamed "99 bends", is one of the last few serene places in singapore........... :)

most of my friends have fond memories of this road...... especially bikers....

when the new series of 1167** rolex gmt master 2 were launched, the new booklet was not ready...... which explained why many customers received the one with the colourful cover.... ADs were still giving out the old booklet on the left............ 

it was until late z series that the new booklet (in green) was issued to the retailers......

to make my collection complete, i asked for a copy of the new......

almost every shop in town and the suburbs is having a sale...........

well for most rolex watches (excluding the super jewelled versions), the boxes come in 3 sizes.... small medium large.............

usually, stainless steel watches come with a small box......... two-tone (i.e. half gold) watches in the medium box and gold watches the big one......... pls note i wrote "usually" .......

exceptions that i know of: sea-dweller 16600 came with a medium box and sea-dweller deepsea 116660 comes with a big box......

as to why......  sorry, i have no idea at all...........

i've been visiting the nearby food centres for the past few days......... and now i am lost: what to have for lunch????

ahhhh!!! perhaps i should drive up further to expand my choices......

from tang plaza to lucky plaza to ngee ann city to wisma atria, everywhere was so crowded.......!! was everyone out for last minute christmas shopping???? i guess so.....

i have never seen the tiffany & co boutique so crowded ......... ! incredible, for i hardly could find a place to stand and browse..... almost all the shelves are blocked.....haha..............

as usual, there was a long queue at the LV boutique in the afternoon............ since i didnt have anything in mind, i did not bother to go in.............. for the moment, i dun NEED another bag...... although deep inside, i know i want.......... but a want is not a NEED and i have other bills to pay......

there were sales at gucci, ferragamo, bally and a few others................. some of the bally shoes are going at 30% discount, pretty good value i think.......... while most of the designs at ferragamo are quite dated.......... not even a pair of lace-up leather shoes.....

to round off the day, i picked up some clothes for my niece and nephew............... from united colors of benetton for kids....

as for myself, hmmmmm nothing specific and worthy to buy........... thought of buying the on-offer ck shirts and t-shirts......... abstained in the end...... thought of buying a new pda phone, result: abstained............... 

the only thing i did today was walk and walk............... :)

the small seconds hand at 6 o'clock works............!

the screw-down crown is operational...... there's even a rubber o-ring on the crown tube.....!

they equipped the watch with a a scratch-resistent sapphire crystal........

the chronograph works!

the give-aways:

to advance the time, the person turned the winding crown in a ccw direction.......... unlike a real 4130 movement in a rolex daytona

the coronet on the winding crown is badly aligned....

the length of the clasp is too short..... 

the oysterlock flap is badly-made......

the entire clasp is poorly done................

i may be an LV fan.......... but always remember: not every creation from the house of vuitton is a hit.......... definitely some can be classified as duds.........

this latest tambour is, in my opinion, not so close to become a hit....................

ok ok.... it was all square after 90 mins of football at the emirates stadium....... exciting no doubt but i guess everyone was disappointed with the result....... maybe except chelsea and man utd....

it all looked good when the 2nd half started, for liverpool began menacingly and was passing the ball around effectively.......... they were certainly more threatening.......

during the game, i felt that liverpool was hurt more by the sending off than arsenal........ sometimes having an extra man may not be an advantage....... especially if the opponent start packing players in their half.....

maybe liverpool were embarrassed by the sending off....... or perhaps even complacent...... the passing became poor and the lack of hunger and enthusiasm were abit obvious.......

nonetheless the 2 goals were absolutely fabulous........... for the speed at which the balls hit the net left both goalkeepers helpless..........

most-improved players are lucas and insua...... both played very well.........

the explorer 2 may not be the most popular of rolex watches but it is one of my firm favourites......

those that know me will understand my weakness for white dials............ i'd picked this as my very first in year 2002 and it has served me faithfully for the past 8 years........

i am very sure it will have many more good years.............. and since most rolex watches have been upgraded in recent years, the current explorer 2 may not be around for that much longer.........

if you are keen to drive one of the swiftest road cars around, yes the atom is mighty cool....... but then this is singapore, the land of tropical rainfall........... so what happens if it rains??? where's the roof???

i understand they are trying to get a homologation cert from the land transport authority.......... but if they really wanna put this on the road....... they'll need a windshield and wipers, side panels, bigger lights and signals, proper crash control i.e. bumpers.... lotsa more.... and of cos not forgetting a roof.......

if not the owner can wear a raincoat when it rains............ a last last resort......

i am sure it's a thrilling drive (going by the specs)......... but this was what lotus has been showing the world........ light weight is KING......... however ariel has gone one better than throwing in a 300 hp supercharged honda vtec engine into this chassis............

very upset

i am extremely upset when i get to know of riders who lost their on the roads........... it's just one bad news too many......

everytime i read a newspaper report or hear/watch it over the radio/TV, my heart always sinks .......... and i never share such moments with anyone......... it's too painful and well, non-riders will never understand......

some riders are very reckless and are definitely asking for it.......... while some cases are accidents............. they were at the wrong place at the wrong time....... or perhaps was it their destiny

during such dark times, i will remember this pair of friends who lost their lives on the NS highway............ they were doing the very thing they like........... and that very thing that took away their lives: riding.......

he was a soft-spoken man.......... always so friendly and helpful........... i gotta know him through a schoolmate during my maiden trip to bukit fraser......... although i was much younger then, he never talked down to me ........ to him, we were all fellow happy riders.........

she was also extremely nice and i was most happy to be able to know them........

for some reason, i did not ride for a couple of years......... and during that period, i somehow drifted away ........ but i always remember my group of friends.........

i attended their funeral wake....... and also the "sending off" at mount vernon........
