hear through

i am beginning to hear things and more.....

but i cant pinpoint the source....

is it because of the

a. DAC improving with time

b. new diffusor panels on the ceiling

c. Acrolink D5000 XLR cables

d. new arrangement of 3 shunmook mpingo discs on the CD transport

even though i can nail it down, i am fine.....

and i am not complaining since everything sounds cool and good.....

california sighting...

i was pretty sure i saw a ferrari california on the opp side of the road a couple of weeks ago....

but wasnt the car due for delivery in months to come...???

ah until i knew there was one out on the road ..... which was used for a magazine test drive as well...

so it is true... there's one out on the loose....

perfect collection...???

even if one has TOO MUCH money, the scene is unlikely to happen........

ARE you really going to buy all the current production models from maranello ....?????

maybe one or possibly two...... but ALL??

remember there's no more shunyata hydra? ... so there's one empty shelf on the left..... as the oyaide power outlet faces up, it's more convenient to let it sit on the floor..... anyway there are floor spikes for the mtb-6, so there's no issue with a floor placement.....

to make things neater the glass shelves adjacent of the loudspeaker on the left had been removed..... which led to a small but perceptible improvement to the soundstage.... maybe less diffraction i dunno....

the system still sounds very good..... so i am satisfied.......

back to basics

i've been telling myself to find that little bit of time to listen to music.......

in recent months i was so tired out after work and on many occasions, i would fall asleep on the sofa and couch while watching tv.... that was how hopeless i became..... haha

on monday i said i would..... and today i must do it.....

AHHHH it sure feels so good to go the room and fire up the system.... YEAH CRANK IT UP..!!....

and i can sense this feeling .... as if i am back to embrace my CAL delta tranport, MSB DAC, adcom pre-amp, CIA power amp and polk audio speakers........ OH what a reunion we are having right now haha.....

i feel so glad i did what i have been wanting to do......

and if you have been messing around with hifi and audio stuff for many years, you surely have seen and heard of the ebony wood pieces in the picture....

HA..... did it bring back any fond memories...???? especially places like hifi corner at the adelphi and people like joe lee...???

the california looks much better with the roof on ........

before these, i was trying to imagine how the roof works........ these pics can explain the mechanism clearly without words......... quite amazing how the entire boot is involved in the deployment .......

since this was designed for use as an everyday ferrari, it has a BIG name to carry......

although not as hardcore as the f430, surely this is easier to operate............. and more spacious too.....

i do hope they have other options for the wheels cos the 5 spokes look abit muted.....

a tweak....

i never was able to get my msb nelson dac to hook up successfully via a AES/EBU link with my CAL delta transport .... no matter how i try, the signal would drop after a while..... therefore i stuck with a coaxial connection over the years....

out of curiousity, i decided to try both connections at the same time.... i.e. the coaxial S/PDIF and AES/EBU links......

WOW it works......! i hope the dac is giving priority to the 110 ohms connection........ it is potentially a better interface than the 75 ohms version.... finally my dh labs 110 cable is getting its exercise....

and now is burn-in time...... and i will listen tonight if i have the chance.....

it may just postpone my decision to get a new dac...

scarlet is always nicer..........

well ferrari cars always look better in scarlet.....



and this new car is gorgeously handsome.......... tail pipes are COOL......



the front grille looks too similar to a maserati though............



i like the FINS.....

since this car is a 2+, u can carry the occasional passengers too.......... which makes it ideal as an everyday car???? hehe.........

one dun actually need 450 hp from monday to friday.............. but too much is always better than too little......
