up the firmware....

since the busy times began, i didnt have much chance to play around with the sony ps3 and the rest of the video system...... but last night i told myself i MUST update the firmware, which i did .... but that was only after i caught the european grand prix on tv.....

this afternoon i was able to make my way out on time and in the evening squeezed a little bit of time to play one blueray disc.... CASINO ROYALE.....

between the 2 craig bond movies, i like casino royale over the quantum of solace......

and that one name of the bad guy..... Le Chiffre and his blood-tearing eye...... is already a classic...... maybe we all are fans of poker deep inside.....

no nonya....

during the television news, i was so surprised that the DVD sets for the little nonya have sold 5000 copies since its launch.............

i knew the drama serial was very popular... however it was broadcast on free-to-air tv... so to have to pay for the DVD is altogether another thing...........

hmmmm, looks like singaporeans really cant get enough of the little nonya............

maybe for the money and resources invested, mediacorp should have shot the series in full HD1080......

k one

the korean medical drama series "New Heart" shown on TV during the weekends is really not bad.......

great doctors, especially surgeons, are just like artists.......... and great doctors (generally) command premium fees..........

bcos what they can do is similar to the creation a masterpiece..... not anyone and not any doctor can do it well............

yeah, it's on channel U..... so if u are at home on saturdays and sundays, catch it.....

i am sure you will like it....... :)

finally....... the one box solution!

it has been in the news for a quite while...... i.e. starhub will introduce a HD hubstation set top box!

today they have a full page advertisement to promote the launch........... and this makes good sense.... cos in the past, to catch HDTV broadcasts, they provided a simple HD set top box...... and if you wish to have a DVR function, you need another hubstation set top box.....

now you can have it all in one box......... save power (electricity consumption), save money, save space........ so what's not to like...... there's also an ethernet port for internet access

thank you cos i have been waiting for this..........

today's task

i woke up early this morning.......... but it's a saturday, oh come on, i should have slept till noon time........ i am always a sleepy head....... too little sleep is not a good thing......

since yesterday, the onkyo 875 was back to its original resting place..... last night i tried the reon settings but i need more time to ascertain its effectiveness ......

but since i was up early, i might as well use the time i have to finetune the audio and video setup........ before i started, i re-read the instruction manual for the mj acoustics subwoofer......

using the bluray disc of cai qin's concert, i fiddled with the pic settings until i was satisfied..... full HD 1080p is really sharp........... click on the below pic for to see it clearly...........

i will spend more time to check on DVD and starhub cable tv settings in the afternoon.......

do you need a BIG TV?

do you need or do you want a BIG TV..???

in many ways, a BIG TV (which i personally define as 42 inches and above) makes less sense.....

buying a BIG HDTV to watch standard definition broadcasts? standard definition broacasts in PAL format kinda sucks, i think..... and right now, there is only ONE free-to-air HD channel in singapore, which is HD5.... and not all the programmes are in HD 1080i....... to me, channel u is the worst in terms of picture quality

further more, a bigger LCD/plasma TV is usually more expensive...... so u pay more to see more flaws (the bigger the TV, the worst SD broadcasts look)........

so it's better to buy a reasonably-sized TV for the living room and use the savings to invest in a full HD projector if you are serious about HD movies i.e. HD-DVD and BD movies......
