AET resonance optimiser

Even at the risk of being labelled as crazy I'm still gonna say this ...

These generic-looking metal pieces are incredible ...!!!

And I'm going to buy more..!!

Right now I have 2 pcs at each end of the oyaide MTB-6 ... And 1 each on the power amplifiers ...

After cleaning the surfaces and placing them carefully I'm hearing things I never knew existed in the recordings ..!!

Amazing ..!!

Yardley sandalwood soap bar

This is so affordable that you might just give it a miss ... Cos many people associate quality with high prices and they could be put off by this low-cost "luxury" soap bar...

When I first tested the aerosol version, I was aghast .... The deodorant was really bad ... Awful!!

But I decided to give Yardley a chance and picked up both the soap and eau de toilette at Mustafa .....

After using it for a few weeks I can say that they are not too bad..  Lather is rich and smooth and the scent is strong but not overbearing .... However, the scent faded quickly after rinsing ...

For a soap bar it cleanses adequately .... But it does make the skin feels drier than most shower gels ...

Will I buy again? Well probably not ... I still prefer gel and foam for convenience ... And these usually moisturises better ...

Usher and Channel Islands Audio

Maybe this is the first pairing of these 2 brands....

So far my searches on the internet did not yield any results so perhaps it's safe to say so....

So if someone is curious if the CIA switching amplifiers can match well with Usher speakers, I can tell you no worries....

They work very well together.... And that's not just my opinion......

Others have heard it and thinks the CIA and Usher sound great .....

Usher Dancer 8571 DMD

Had to wake up early in the morning on the eve of Christmas to receive this pair of super heavy loudspeakers... But it was all worth it... After about 12 hours of running time, I shut everything down for the night.... Ahh... It's time to take a well deserved rest.....

ISSE 2011 - 1

I have uploaded quite a few pictures from the ISSE on Saturday afternoon but now it's time to say a little more...

After paying for a 2-day pass, I headed straight towards the end of level 3 where Yamaha was showcasing their range of AV products....

Nothing spectacular overall .... Prices are reasonable and as usual Yamaha components are pretty to look at...

This audio dock reminds me of the mini compo era..... Kinda retro???

AV amps and AV amps....

Stello components...

The inner partition was playing Transformers da movie.....

Pressure relief...

The plugs may be tight but as the cable is heavy, there is a slight sag if you leave the cable dangling....

I have to use 2 wooden blocks, 1 of which is a chess seed, to support the plug at the end....

Neat and tidy it became....

Cheers..!

New supplies....

I placed an order for soaps and lotion last week and the package had finally arrived....

Let's see what's in there...

Happy shaving..!

The crazy gang and their products

Other than Shun Mook, the other crazy product of their time was The Original Cable Jacket....

They were said to be complementary ...

But I didn't find it that effective in my system at that time I bought it....

And you may ask from where? None other than HiFi Corner of cos...

Now?

It's being on the supply power cord for my isolation transformer / filter than feeds my AR RR-77...

The next elegance..

Compared to the awesome G1 and G2, the new G3 looks a little awkward ....

Could be the exposed tubes for the tweeter and midrange or it could be the curvature of the bass tube...

I can't exactly pinpoint where and what is the issue here....

No matter what looking at pictures is no substitute for seeing the real thing.....

So I can't wait to see the G3...!

Violin or Cello...

Love your violin or cello..???

Now you can bring them home and enjoy the music and great looks.....

I'm sure many ladies will like this and that means their husbands can buy it without worries.....

Clean cut

It could be the milder strokes or perhaps I have softer facial hair.....

Cos after 5 shaves, the 7 o’clock blade is still pretty sharp....

And once broken in, no longer gives me any unexpected nicks.....

The very first box I bought was $1.50 but when stocks arrived at Mustafa, they are sold at 70 cents....!! Cheaper than the MII Laser and MUCH MUCH better in quality....

For last night’s shave, I used my EJ badger brush and Tabac shaving cream to whip up the required lather..... For reasons unknown to me, I just can’t achieve the rich lather I could with Omega shaving cream.....

Perhaps the tabac wasn’t made for that consistency...

So everything, the razor, the blade and the shave was close to perfect except for the lather.....

Happy wet shaving!!

大改变

Changing loudspeakers is not a plug and play exercise.... It involves much much more than just hooking up the cables...

So many factors can wreck the whole experience which is supposed to be an upgrade....

Setup and adjustment will take a long time ...

Break-in is a pain in the ass... 50, 100, 200 hours are barely minimum ....

Room interactions will drive you mad....

But when everything is resolved the magic will appear...

bass test

In order to know the room better, I played a frequency response test last night......

I couldn’t hear or feel a thing for 25 Hz.....

I know that expecting a pair of moderately-sized loudspeakers to play 25 Hz is too optimistic but from 31 Hz onwards, the Polks are fine.....

In fact I still find them pretty amazing loudspeakers in comparison to what is available on the market today....

They were selling for about S$2,400 6 to 7 years ago....

And today you can get a pair for about $3,300 (last saw a pair at Audio House Liang Court)....

I believe they can give any loudspeakers selling for S$4,000 a good fight....

I know they can....
