now we all know singapore is in a technical recession........ and the rest of the world is also struggling...... so is it a good time to buy a car?

looking at the prices for the 2 most recent COE bidding exercises, it seems to be good news for people who are close to buying a car.....that is if you think your future is secure........ as in your job/earning power is unlikely to be affected......

(info for non-singaporeans: a person need to bid for a certificate of entitlement before he can buy a vehicle)

if not, i think potential buyers should stay away .....

but it is certainly not a good time to get a bike....... cos the COE for the motorcycle is pretty high........ maybe potential car buyers are switching to bikes and driving up the demand.....

i hope my car will last me for awhile more........... when i made the purchase in dec 04, the price was S59,999 and COE was approx $21,000-22,000............. now i can get the same car for less than S$50,000 ....... how times have changed ........ it's partly bcos of a lower ARF and much lower COE prices.....

another example:

my fren's 5 year-old 1.3 litre car was about S$75,000.......... his recent purchase, a 2.0 litre car cost $71,000 ...... !!
