after many months of loyal service, i have retired my trusty set of toyo t1-r tires and wheels......... which took place the previous week....



this is what was left of them............... notice the very uneven wear, especially on the right hand side.....



the toyo are great tires..... you can certainly trust your life on them......

ah i must admit the experience at track side is irreplaceable...... it was exciting to catch the cars on tv for practice 3..... but it was still tv

but when i was at the marina bay circuit to witness the qualifying ........ AH that was electrifying...... SHIOK was the feeling.....

u know what? one really has to make an effort to get to know formula 1 to enjoy the race at the circuit................ fortunately i can recognise most of the drivers just by looking at the helmets and the colour of the camera pods........... if not there is no other way to know who was in the scarlet car than just went by.......... and they are FAST........ even at the braking areas, what's more the faster parts of the circuit.....

even experienced commentators are mistaken....... either sometimes or most of the times..... but they are professionals and should live and die by the "sword"......

so if you are right there, ask me........ i'll tell you who's in that car.....

kudos to felipe massa ....... he drove a stomper of a lap in the dying minutes of q3 .......P1 is the result........ i hope he wins tonight........ so GO FELIPE GO...!!!!

overloading

i just found out that to determine if there's an overloading offence, the truck must be escorted to an inspection centre for weighing....

well if the issue is weight, then i think i understand the rationale.........

but just as important is VOLUME... tipper trucks should not be loaded till the earth/granite chips/goods falls on the road............ which endangers other motorists.....

sigh, laws/rules and regulations must change with the times...........

i hope LTA (Land Transport Authority, equivalent of DOT in USA) do something about it

car spotting this morning ........

i first saw this bugger on ECP towards Changi Airport...... couldnt tell what car it was from my rear view mirror..... but as it got closer i saw the signature racing stripes on the bonnet...... i thought, could it be another f430 scuderia..???? my heart was beating faster...... for what's the chance of spotting 2 scuderia on consecutive days..????



then i saw the headlights .......... NAH NAH it was a maserati..... and it was making a racket....... a pleasant and nice sounding racket i must say...... :)

since it was doing more than 100 kph, i decided not to follow........ oh yes i keep to the speed limit.... :)



managed to catch the car at the next traffic lights.......... and when the lights turn green, i had the momentum to pass it on the left......... it continued to make a racket but it wasnt accelerating away...... haha i guess the driver was probably not familiar with this car........

it turned into changi industrial estate..... *byeeeeeeeeeeeeee*

i'm so sad....

and on the opposite side of the expressway, a vehicle in scarlet was beginning to take shape as it approached from distance........

it was a familiar shape and instantly recognisable ..... a ferrari f430.....

well during the weekends here in singapore, it's no longer uncommon to spot a f430 on the road..... but this is different........

cos when it passed closer, i saw the iconic racing stripes......

holy cow for this is a ferrari f430 scuderia.!!!!!!!!!!!! the badass version and very bad indeed.....

louis vuitton is very serious about watches...... it may be only a fairly recent introduction (since 3002) but they have a dedicated facility to handle production and design......



within the tambour range, there is a model built for divers......... aptly called tambour diver ... :P

there are no outstanding features but all the basic needs are catered for........... you get a date display and also a rotating bezel to keep track of time........ i like the design for the rubber strap in damier pattern........ very cool....

this is something i may consider...... :)

yes it's about time to change the tires on my car ........... over time i noticed that there is more wear on the driver's side........ and there is also a nail on the left front tire......... no choice but to change them as soon as possible......... safety first is my motto.....


current tires are toyo t1-r......... which are amazing tires for the price.......... they not only look good, they grip very well too......... in both dry and wet conditions......




if u like a quiet ride, then the t1-r is not for you............ v-thread tires are usually higher in road noise......

i think i'll stick with toyo again......

a lot of people are complaining....... why were 25 seconds added to lewis hamilton's race time..... and so they complained about cheating/perverted decision and all.......... ok they have no idea what are they talking about

so let's find out why was it 25 seconds........ and not 10 secs..or 90 secs......????????

well i am not going to deal with whether he deserved the penalty......... that's a different issue altogether.... and i have my own take on it.....

we shall focus on 25 seconds........ only

and accordingly to FIA rulebook,

In the case of the drive-through penalty and the ten-second time penalty, a driver has three laps, from the time his team is notified, to enter the pits (failure to do so may result in a black flag and the driver being excluded from the race).

The only exception is when the penalty is awarded during the final five laps of the race. In this case the driver may continue and complete the race. However, 25 seconds will be added to his total race time, which may drop him considerably in the final race standings.

the incident happened 2 laps from the end........ which is why there was no drive-through penalty imposed............ in fact he was fortunate, a drive through could have taken longer than 25 seconds....

there you have it............ so before you whine about 25 seconds........ pls make an effort to find out more.....

COSC or what is it about... gimmick??

if u frequent some watch forums........... u probably will notice that there are quite a few regulars who always insist that cosc certification is nothing but a marking tool...........

there is even one who will often quote his unnamed source that said "cosc is just a marketing tool".............. unnamed? yeah u read it correctly......... unnamed probably he wasnt authorised to speak ....... or that person could be expressing his own opinions....... or maybe he preferred to remain nameless....... i have no idea who and where is the guy from.....

so is the certification useless????? being a nobody, what can i say......

now how about someone who is able to speak on behalf of omega??? according to Stephen Urquhart, CEO of omega "the cosc certification is not a marketing tool......... it is a certified acknowledgement of precision. even if cosc did not exist, we would still want to regulate our watches stringently."

so u can judge for yourself......... is the unnamed source more credible? or the CEO of omega?

if cosc did not exist, how can the industry then set a benchmark?? who is going to decide what is "precision"????? 4 seconds or 10 seconds or 30 seconds average daily rate? god knows......

but what is a chronometer???

well, it simply means a timepiece that was certified by COSC (an independent body) to have passed its stringent tests.....

over 15 days and nights in 5 positions at 3 temperatures ...... each and every individual movement will go through it...... no sampling and no batch testing are allowed.....

if u are interested in the specifications of a chronometer, u can find it at wikipedia...

some ppl are confused in thinking that......... so long their watches are within -4/+6 seconds per day, it is as good as a chronometer............

yes yes i think they do........ they are nice of cos..... but they wont make me abandon monogram and damier ebony/azur overnight...... hehe

since lv raffles hotel do not carry shoes, i did not have the chance to see my fav elan sneakers...... in fact my main aim was to see and touch the damier graphite inventeur belt........... ah too bad there was none..........

it's ok....... at least i got to see these 2...... the CUT and the FORCE......

without any doubt, the CUT is just so ......... handsome...... especially that silver brass buckle...... i must confess i took a good few minutes to caress the buckle.... :)

as for the FORCE...... well i dun really like pin buckle cos it stresses the belt and cuts short the useful life............ pity cos it's nice but it may not last so long compared to the CUT and inventeur.....

no matter what this is still my favourite buckle...... the LV initials!!
