bass test

In order to know the room better, I played a frequency response test last night......

I couldn’t hear or feel a thing for 25 Hz.....

I know that expecting a pair of moderately-sized loudspeakers to play 25 Hz is too optimistic but from 31 Hz onwards, the Polks are fine.....

In fact I still find them pretty amazing loudspeakers in comparison to what is available on the market today....

They were selling for about S$2,400 6 to 7 years ago....

And today you can get a pair for about $3,300 (last saw a pair at Audio House Liang Court)....

I believe they can give any loudspeakers selling for S$4,000 a good fight....

I know they can....

Keep busy

Occasionally I think I have too much time ......... Even though that rarely happens......

 

Cos most of the time I think I’m very busy, as if time is never enough......

 

So what keeps me occupied...??? Well what’s important to me may just seem trivial or frivolous to others.......

 

Maybe it’s my own way to maintain my sanity....

 

The day one runs of ideas to occupy himself is the day he goes mad......

 

I’d better know how to keep myself busy....

I had no problem selling my DNA-1 to upgrade to the CIA D-100 mono amps......

So even though the D-100 are better than the DNA-1, no one seems to be interested.....

Branding and perceived value count a lot when it comes to the resale market.....

Actual performance stands at a distant second or third consideration ....

Some of us dream all the time while some may not even get to have one......

Some dreams are the way they were and even one's mind knew it that way: They were just like dreams.....

Some dreams are so REAL that even one's mind is fooled..... One can wake up asking if it was really true...

Even though I know I am awake now, I'm still troubled by my dream this morning......... So surreal...... So amazing......

I can only say WOW..... Cos it was wonderful while it lasted.....

Words and pictures

My colleague asked me why did I stop writing and now my blog is mostly of pictures from pic sharing app....

Well I think maybe it's easier to convey the message using pictures and I always try to include descriptions.... So they are just not pictures and pictures alone....

I wish I have the time and luxury I had when I started the blog a few years ago...

Too bad...

After reading up the local forums on wet shaving, I’m not surprised that there are so many enthusiastic fans out there..... Simply bcos it’s effective and very importantly FUN.....

When I was using the MIC (made in China) $1.50 razor, I’d paired it up with MII (made in India) Laser razor blades...... The blades did their job but they were frankly quite crappy.... One can always feel the tugging and satisfaction? Almost non existent....... Cost? 1.50 for 10 blades..... or 80 cents for 5..... 16 cents a blade....

On the other end of the scale are Feather blades MIJ..... AWESOME & SUPERB!!!!.... But also very expensive at about 50 cents a blade!!!

Last night was the 1^st time I was using the Russian made Gillette 7 o’clock razor blades...... $1.50 for 5 and 30 cents a blade....... Not bad but certainly nowhere close to Feather..... Remember these are also considered as non-forgiving blades....... I got a nick cos I wasn’t paying attention.....

Right now I’m looking out for other choices just for the sake of trying and learning..... And I can’t wait for my EJ razor to arrive from the UK....

Anyway I have enough razor blades to last me for another 1-2 years at least....
