arriving very soon......

the world has become much much smaller and very much more connected now that the internet is a part of our lives...... and so we know the JLC NSA is already at dealers in the USA and europe.....

very soon it will be coming to singapore.......... and if you like alarm watches, you probably should not miss your watch to get this....

although it's limited to 1500 pcs, there should be sufficient numbers to meet the worldwide demand......

well from past experience, JLC limited edition watches are not exactly the most sought-after timepieces .... unlike examples like AP offshore limited pieces......

where's your watch...??

surprisingly the good old boy of formula 1 doesnt wear his watch when he's racing.... cos no one needs to know the time during the race haha.....

a few others like massa and trulli cant do without their watches even while racing..... and that's a tough test on movements due to the tremendous G forces when they accelerate, brake and turn .....

making inROADs....

between orchard road and queen's road...... i think the latter sounds a little bit more atas (high-class)...... come on, it's about the fruit vs the queen, right..???

when it comes to names, i never consider AP as being creative and original ...... so using the locations of the boutiques is maybe only a matter of convenience......

for the followers of AP limited editions, they know the stream is endless anyway so this new model is no new surprise....... i reckon stretching the production to 100 pcs is the max they shd go..... for anymore would be considered as dumping (haha)....

in terms of weight, the orchard road is surely the winner as the HK-edition is made of titanium...... but in terms of significance, the queen's road is far too similar to the JBB (malaysian-edition)..... there are always more special limited editions and somehow i feel that THIS would never be ranked as the more important ones.....

feel free to disagree....

so many orchard road..???

there are only 100 pieces of AP ROO orchard road in the whole wide world...... hey but what and where the heck is orchard road..???

pretty simple, it's the name of THE very famous road here in singapore which is choked full of shopping malls ...... and the AP boutique is located at nowhere else but orchard road of cos....

ok let's not get carried away with the name and now back to the important issue.... since there are only 100 pieces manufactured for the boutique, you'd expected them to be scarce and hard to find..... remember what the ADs and boutique staff told you? "very difficult to get" they said.....

however, in recent weeks and months, i noticed that quite a few have sprouted out in used-goods dealers in singapore...... and many pieces are listed as Brand New In Box (BNIB), which means that the watches are in a almost-brand-new and unused condition.....i think the owners bought the watches most likely with the intention for flipping............ outside of singapore, there are a few pieces being offered in international watch forums ....

it's a pity really..... cos those that had wanted to get one at list price never had a chance......

mix and match AP style...

although this is a completely new model, it does seem vaguely familiar........

remember the AP ROO orchard road (limited to 100 pcs)????? cast in the grey metal of tantalum, the orchard road too has a rubber coated bezel........ now this new gstaad classic comes in another grey metal, the featherweight titanium..... and also has a rubber coated bezel..... now i find both are too close to comfort in terms of look .....

well if you know about royal oak offshore, then this is stale news..... cos mixing and matching is a tried and tested ploy when it comes to the ROO...... i.e. usually very successful.....

anyway for this year, the ROO to go for is the bubble bee..........

good news = still available........

look? classy and sporty....

but if you dun need to buy your watch from an AD, there's one at visiotime selling at S$44,900 (after discount.....)

quick sale...

pic from visiotime.com

wow visiotime just sold one of these monsters royal oak offshore survivor chronograph.............. hee..... and their last posted price was about S$67,700.....

but even i have the money, i dun think it will fit......... cos the watch is TOO big for my puny wrist... it's a case of mis-match for an interested owner and timepiece haha

no matter what, this is still VERY MASSIVE and AWE-INSPIRING...... however, between this and the carbon-cased team alinghi, which will you choose???

out in the open....

i was at millenia walk this afternoon and of cos i never missed a chance to walk past cortina espace...... the largest watch boutique in singapore.....

surprise surprise when i saw a audemars piguet royal oak offshore rubber clad in the glass display...... and this has never happened before (at least for me) until the financial tsunami..... a sign of even tougher times???

grab it while you can..... for it may not be there for too long.....

no matter what.... AP ROO are always popular and very wanted......

more black carbon

when the first carbon-cased watch from AP was launched, everyone went ga-ga over the team alinghi......... 1300 pieces for the forged carbon version were all sold out in double-quick time.......

the next carbon-cased AP ROO Offshore unveiled: singapore gp f1 edition; 250 pcs were barely enough to meet local demand............

and now finally, a non LE carbon-cased watch is now available from AP..... and it even comes with a ceramic bezel.......... how's that for improvement???

this one is worth waiting for..... and i am sure demand will be sky high..... only if you like yellow....

so watch it...!!

who's the survivor...??

i know this is old news but for the benefit of those that's not really into watches, here's the newly released beast............ the SURVIVOR..........

ironically it is only WR to 100 metres....... far less than what the name would imply haha....

i cant quite grasp the concept of this watch though.......... it looks mighty muscular but i think it's slight OTT..... look at those flip-up guards for the chronograph pushers!! that's serious overkill haha........ gosh

being limited to 1000 pcs, of cos the demand is hell skyhigh, even in these turbulent times.....

if you have the chance to grab it at list price (i think S$59,000), DO IT!!! cos it's already being traded at premium....

the only way i can wear this is around my biceps or ankles............ for the watch is way too big for my puny wrists haha

Friday, 20 June 2008

hohoho..........

haha another "lack-of-effort" limited edition from AP...... this time they've done it in red...... just for the sake of their new boutique in geneva and named "Rhone-Fusterie"

seriously what's new....... or what's so special about this........

like many others, i'd choose a rubber clad or safari or themes royal oak offshore over this anytime..........

i dare to say this is fugly...........

and there's 1 for sale at visiotime now........ S$38,500 and yours to take home.....

coincidental................. Offshore

i wrote about the audemars piguet royal oak offshore in rose gold not long ago..... no doubt it's a handsome watch ......and bcos of the skyhigh demand, one never gets to see the watch in a display case...... they are always booked in advance..... my regular AD hardly gets one in 6 months..... that's how popular the RG rubberclad is.....

coincidentally 2 are put up for sale by grey dealers this week...... AHHHH, perhaps there was a recent delivery????? ........... and both are "brand new"..... i read that as "unused/unworn" cos they are no longer "brand new" when resold by grey dealers.......

first one at passions (funan centre)..... @$S52800......... with papers dated in apr 08......

http://www.passions.com.sg/Audemars_Piguet/2279-AP.htm

2nd one at visiotime (hitachi tower).......... at "nearly 25% discount" off the retail price of S$65,000..... which shd come to S$48750.......

http://www.visiotime.com/index.php?page=ProductDetail&id=2736

which one will u pick...???........... it's a no brainer......

Another AP LE......

pics copyright: SC from purists.com

now if u dun like blue......... then how about yellow..????

this one is another limited edition in Titanium........ 100 pics only.......

short name is JBB....... full name Jalan Bukit Bintang..... for the AP boutique in Starhill Gallery, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur......

presented with bezel screws are BLACK and hour markers in yellow......... i think the yellow strap is an excellent choice.......

someone who prefers to keep a lower profile might wanna stick to the black strap......... to me yellow is a KILLER.....

AP limited edition........... how do u like this one..???

a special editon created for the paris AP boutique............... haha

not too sure if i like the colour combination......... white hornback strap is nice of cos but the blue/red stitching is so......

and how about that matching blue dial.....???? i think i like something more subdued..... :P

stock take.....

visited my friendly watch dealer on fri.....

new stocks arrived.......... for AP, there are the themes ROO on bracelet and leather strap...... very nice but i prefer to wait for the rubber clad ROO..... the ROO on strap retails for S$30,800 and the price remains the same from 5% to 7% GST.......

there are also many more roger dubuis watches on display ....... i quite like the easy diver watches but RD watches are quite expensive........... so good to look at but dear to own one........ and more corum watches too...... especially the golden bridge range...... which features a skeleton movement.....

also saw the JLC extreme W-Alarm (non-LE version)........... with red accents........ although not as nice as the rossi LE version, this one is much more affordable...........

managed to pick up a rolex wall calender and a new booklet-sized rolex catalog........... the catalog is printed in singapore .... so its distribution may be limited to our small island.......

AP ROO: amazing collections....

Ap, saw these 2 pics posted on the internet not so recently............

so many AP ROO watches!! my gosh......

the collections are simply awesome......

Orchard Road, TA RG, JPM, Sincere, two Scuba, Polaris, two RB2.... ouch ouch ouch!! ...... :)

takes alot of money to own these babies.......

which one will u choose? my personal fav is the RB2......... the ceramic bezel is a tough nut..... on the other hand, the tantalum orchard road is also quite a prize at 100 pics LE......
