a rolex guarantee.....

on many occasions i have read about and heard of ppl who are overly suspicious......

they who speculate that rolex, and perhaps many other swiss watches, are made elsewhere e.g. china (why do china come to mind in the first instance?), and then boxed up in switzerland........

so what is the truth? ... who do we believe in? ...... the manufacturers or the rumour-mongers.....??

so let us read up the rolex guarantee, which is a green little booklet......

most importantly, read the last paragraph...........

"Rolex SA certifies that this watch has been entirely manufactured in Switzerland."

if this is not sufficient for you, nothing else will...................

rolex movements......

for those people who keep insisting that rolex movements are plain and poorly decorated, pls open up your eyes and take a good look............ these ought to make them eat their words............

one can now appreciate the quality of a rolex movement and also its beauty......... do compare with the types of decoration in my earlier post

watch movements and decoration

very often we read how artisans spend countless hours working on watch movements......... especially on works such as polishing and decorating the parts.....

question: what are the types of decoration?

to help our readers understand better, here are some pictures and reference ........... so much easier to have pics than trying to explan what is cotes de geneve right??

silly waste of time

i find it extremely silly...... and a complete waste of time when ppl dapple in conspiracy theories that rolex operates an offshore facility to assemble parts on the cheap and then sent it to switzerland for assembly.........

and some went on to add that since "rolex neither confirms or denies it", then it becomes possible rather than just probable........

come on, the onus is on the detractors to prove their claims.............. not for rolex to disprove these rumours..... it takes no effort at all to spread rumours right? they can argue till the cows come home and none will be any wiser.......

so should anyone be worried?

well, read up more before you decide......... http://www.fhs.ch/en/swissm.php

therefore, it is possible for any swiss watch manufacturers to import watch components for final assembly in switzerland........... so long the total value of these parts is less than 50 percent of the cost of the movement (excluding the cost of assembly)....

since it is possible, is any of the swiss manufacturers doing it? given the level of vertical integration they have achieved, i highly doubt so........... but since i cant prove it, why waste time thinking about it?

enjoy your swiss made watch by strapping it on your wrist.......... and not be worried about whether one screw came from africa, india, china, england, usa, russia, japan, mexico ...... or anywhere but switzerland........
