Fury!!

Certain things happened along the way and made me very unhappy....

1. Service centre forgot to reset the service reminder .... Well that's a minor issue & I can live with that...

2. They informed me that the screw / bolt securing the front brake hose to the suspension is missing..... At first I thought they had done something to secure it temporarily but as I was driving to YB to check the suspension, the rubbing sound became very obvious and louder...

I found out they did nothing at all!! The friction had caused part of the hose to be worn off!!!

Fortunately I didn't have to travel half the island to get to YB.... If not I could have been in trouble.....

Now i didn't have any problem before today so I am pretty sure the service guy lost the bolt ..... And left me for dead....

Damn!!! Thank goodness the brake hose is ok.....

That's really bad service!!! I can't imagine a simple job that involves renewing brake fluid can cause so much trouble....!!

Sometimes I dunno how the brains at AGC work..... Surely they have the brightest minds working there but so far they have been very unconvincing....

How can any one with a brain state in court that a contact between a car and a motorcycle at speed is "slight" and not serious...?????!!!!

And whoever decided not to charge the car driver for dangerous driving should have his brain examined.....

Fortunately the CJ is wise to allow the appeal....

Of cos to punch a person, even when provoked, is wrong.... But the severity of provocation must be taken into account....

in the end, sledgehammers were used..... but as all can see, they were kinda ineffective against tempered glass......... too much time and effort was needed to smash their way through

perhaps they could have targeted the emergency escape panel ..... usually made of a less durable material, they are meant to break easily to allow escape........

perhaps they could have used ladders to help SWAT members gain access into the bus............

perhaps the ops should have been conducted in darkness by cutting off all power.....

well talk is cheap and it always easier to say things on hindsight....

Ok I know what happened .... What caused the freeze.... Someone connected a powered cordless phone to the phone line & messed up the signal....

To get everything back online I had to disconnect the phone & restart the mio box....

Voilà! Everything is ok now..... The next test is of cos the football match coming up at 11 pm....

not smooth......

i am hoping for things to be smooth and easy .....but i didnt wake up on time.

it was 0615 hrs when i jumped off the bed but surprisingly i still managed to reach the carpark around my usual timing, 0638 hrs...... no special effort was expended and no speeding was involved, so where did i gain the time??? i am not complaining even though i dun understand what happened.......

as usual, the straits times sucks....... and now i am sitting right here with very very heavy eyelids....... oh my i am very sleepy but typing can help keep me awake.....

it was meant for people who have multiple mobile phones to stay true to 1 phone number e.g. a blackberry, a windows mobile phone and a non-camera handphone all sharing that 1 number.....

i remember previously additional sim cards were available from m1 at $5.35 each............. very affordable and reasonable.....

but lately as more and more users are jumping onto the data bandwagon and with the introduction of ipad especially, mobile operators started to act........ they know many people are asking for additional sim cards for their mobile devices......

so now they are at $10.70 each..... all bcos of youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.................

as the mileage draws close to 30,000 km, it's also time for fresh oil and fluids.......

while i was trying to book an appointment with the service centre, i had to look at the screen a few more times to know that there is no more saturday service days...!!

why is that so...??? i'd been booking saturday services for quite some time......... and it's the most convenient day for me..... need not take leave at all, only needed to wake up early....

is it a system glitch or is this a perm arrangement...???

There is standby & standby...... Since my super hot-running onkyo amplifier can remain cool during standby mode, why can't the starhub & mio boxes stay as such.....

They are running way too hot even though in rest mode..... Let me tell you, you probably dun wanna know how much power they are sucking from the wall....

I think they have yet to download user subscription info so right now I can watch all channels on mio TV & plus starhub is making all channels free for 3 days, there are many many movies to catch......

So thin

The iPhone 4 is a thin little piece of sleek engineering.... And makes mine feeling fat & uneasy

what settings.....

for the starhub box, i set the TV to 16:9........ using this ratio, all tv programmes are therefore stretched horizontally........... i think most ppl are still not used to seeing 2 black bars on the left and right and will rather tolerate a slightly fatter picture presentation.......

for the mio TV box, the output resolution is 1080i and normal programmes are shown in 4:3 format even though the TV is set to 16:9 ........... meanwhile, HD programmes look ok as the native screen ratio is 16:9.....

so when one is used to seeing a fat picture, watching normal tv programmes in the correct screen ratio could be slightly disconcerting................ i wonder when we have all tv programes in the correct format.......

Right now there are remote controls for the tv, starhub set top box, mio set top box, ps3 and onkyo amplifier in the living room.....

Need so many for what lah...... And I am running out of space on the table....

Last week I worked on only 2 days but it felt like a drag.... So far I have done 4 days this week and I am still going strong...

Any reason I should be feeling this way?

Maybe when one is on leave, the propensity to be lazy is greater.... Rest for a day and you want another and so on..... Laziness might just lead to sloth if one is not careful!

Anyway Friday is here and oh am I glad of cos! I can't wait for the weekend to come.....

Fresh start

PSB loudspeakers are big in north america but has yet to gain any foothold in Singapore ....

In fact I know of no person who owns PSB here.... Maybe the marketing wasn't aggressive enough maybe the market was saturated maybe the dealer didn't do a good job.... Tons of possible reasons why PSB is in the wilderness....

Despite having a new agent to take care of its operations here, I think it's still a tough road ahead for the brand....

Sometimes the best seller may not be the one who can sing most beautifully....

out of a sudden, i was thinking of speaker cables and also trying to recollect my experiences........

throughout the years, i have a habit of staying put with my choices and usually these cables would hang around with me for years before i decided to upgrade....... changing speaker cables is no fun and usually quite an expensive affair; one could be stuck with a pair that cannot be resold easily......

i bought my first pair in the 80s to use with my mirage m-360 loudspeakers...... it was a pair from esoteric audio bought from kingsley in plaza singapura...... cheap and cheerful was all i can remember about it. shroud in soft black insulation, it was pretty thick by modern standards.......

2nd pair was kimber 4TC (bi-wiring JM Lab Micron and Kinergetics SW, followed by polkaudio LSi-15) - bought from atlas sound

3rd pair was silver sonic T-14 (bi-wiring JM Lab Micron and Kinergetics SW, followed by polkaudio LSi-15) - bought from mail-order and effective audio

4th pair was silver sonic Q-10 in shotgun configuration (bi-wiring polkaudio LSi-15) - bought from effective audio

5th pair is acrolink S-3000 and acrolink S-1010 (bi-wiring polkaudio LSi-15) - bought from x-audio

so far i had no problems with selling kimber kables while the T-14 and Q-10 are still stored in ziplock bags........

a set of good speaker cables too was around S$2000......

a set of after-market brake upgrade kit is also around S$2000.....

time spent on thinking and buying? well, vastly different......
