rolex explorer 2

two wrist shots...............of my first rolex watch......the explorer 2 in white dial.........back in 2002, explorer 2 were highly sought after and discount was rare for this model......

i have a weakness for white dials....and the explorer 2 is one of the most beautiful watches out there......in fact, for rolex ss sport watches, only the explorer 2 and the daytona come with white dials...........kinda unique isnt it....

mine came with the SEL bracelet, which i really like........of cos the middle links are hollow but that's fine.........this makes the bracelet light and comfortable......

powering the explorer 2 is the rolex 3185 movement..........which is similar to the 3135 excepted for the 24 hr hand complication......this is a very versatile gmt watch as the hour hand can be set in 1 hr increment and independently without the need to hack the movement.....

rated to 100 wr, the watch comes with a twinlock crown......

many believe that after the upgrades to the gmt master 2, the explorer 2 will be the next rolex to get a supercase and maxi-dial...........well we shall see, cos rolex is keeping mum.....

2 very popular AP ROO.....

these 2 are among the most popular ROO watches................usually sold out .....and customers put on a waiting list............affectionately known as "rubber clad" ROO, its most unique feature is the rubberised bezel....

many owners of ROO have noted that the steel bezel is a scratch magnet....so having a rubber cover is a blessing........functionally it protects the bezel .....moreover, it lends a attractive contrast to the look of the watch......

the rubber theme is already carried through to the strap, pushers and crown........between the 2 dials, i kinda prefer the black......

*thumbs up*...

other than the limited editions, this is the ROO to own........i like it more than the safari, volcano, navi and themes versions.....

late night listening....

10 mins to midnight......still enjoying the same cd after a couple of hours........

soothing music is sooo comforting for the tired body and soul.....qi qin may not be blessed with heavenly vocals but he sure is good at making best use of what he has.....i always feel that he has very good technical ability in singing and i like his compositions very much.....

anyway ....in a few hours time...gotta go to office for work...........the thought of going to work is such a dread......sigh.....

last weekend, heard a couple of loudspeakers at adelphi, singapore's "almost" one-stop centre for audiophiles.....which are the paradigm reference studio 60 v4.....and the dynaudio focus 220.........one is about S$2300.....and the other close to 1k more........

so is there any difference? well of cos there are.....but it's not as simple as A vs B......

different rooms.......different partnering components............which makes auditions at showrooms quite a challenge.....based on the time we had with the loudspeakers, the dyns are in fact very strong in the areas such as ambience, imaging and bass response........the complete setup with plinuis electronics sounded ......complete ....as in one can tell sufficient effort has been put in to achieve this level of performance.....

in comparison, i feel that the paradigm was handicapped by the room.......i never felt comfortable in asia sound's 2 rooms all these years........my polks sounded so much better at home than at the shop.........however i heard enough potential in these loudspeakers to bring them home.......similarly i think the paradigm would surely blossom if give the opportunity to do so...........the highs are pretty good.....lotsa detail without being agressive and forward........

at the end of it....i am still very satisfied with the polk audio LSi-15.....haha.......a touch of bias perhaps but they are sure very good loudspeakers.......and at the price i paid of them, it's a no-brainer...

rolex gifts........

very early in the year, i received this from an AD........have never seen this before, maybe it's something new.....other than the green passport holder, i also have another smaller telephone diary.......

at first i thought it was something green .....but it turned out to be brown.....dunno why it's brown.....haha

hee....it's an organiser.........

in this modern age, a filofax is not longer a popular accessory ....

looks pretty nice.......but i wont be using this.....will be keeping it pristine....:)

one of my favourite rolex daytona models....

black mother-of-pearl dial.............not totally black but it's of a darker shade than most mop dials.....now even a watch in wg does not come in a special box, one would think that rolex will pamper their customers with a unique presentation packaging....haha but no no.....

no lume on the dial................just the black mop dial and roman numerals in white gold.....i dun think there is any luminova on the hands as well..... plain and simple, the main attraction is the dial......nothing more nothing less....

each mop dial is unique.... there is no one that would look exactly the same ......mop catches light in a brilliant way .....and constantly changes the it way it looks under different lighting conditions......very much like pearl automative paint....

still wr to 100 m....... and one of my dream watches.....

rose gold...richard mille

rose gold always look good........and it seems to be a very good seller for richard mille.....

when i last visited the boutique, there were 2 white gold rm005 on display...and none for rg....

visually there's not much of a difference between the ti and wg watches....both are in a brushed finish........unless one is able to hold both, it sure is almost impossible to tell one from the other..........

on the contrary, the rg watch lends a very classy yet luxurious feel to the look.......and it also looks fabulous in the square case on the rm016, which is a radical departure from the usual rm casework

this is one the few pictures of the yellow strap for the rm005-fm.......what do u think? well.....very matching and yet at the same time, it's loud.............suitable for a weekend but probably not for the office............the rg rm005 did not look so good with the orange alligator strap though.......
